Today I celebrate the birth of the woman who gave me life. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
My mom is one of God’s greatest blessings to me. I’m so grateful for her love, her prayers, her encouragement, and her listening ear. I’m grateful for her example of a godly woman, wife and mother. I grateful that though we’re miles apart she is only a phone call away.

I’m grateful for those who fought before me so that I have the right to vote this Election Day. I’m also grateful this election cycle is coming to an end. I can do without the continuous TV ads and the contentious back and forth of the candidates. And I’m grateful that my hope is in Jesus because no matter who wins, He is still in control.

I’m grateful for children who don’t know the difference between a weekday and the weekend and wake up at the crack of dawn either way, it means they are alive, healthy and happy to see a new day. I’m also grateful for Saturday morning cartoons and cereal that keep them occupied while I steal a few more minutes of sleep.
Attitude of Gratitude Day 1 & 2
According to some of my friends on Facebook, November is the month of gratitude and each day you’re supposed to post one thing for which you are grateful. While I’m on a self-imposed FB detox of sorts (another post for another day), I’m not one to turn down any opportunity to give thanks so I thought I’d blog my daily gratitudes.
Day 1
I’m grateful for clarity of mind especially since I’ve only averaged about 12 hours total sleep over the past 3 nights with a cranky but clingy 21 month old.
Day 2
I’m grateful for heat and electricity. Our furnace is out and while waiting for the part (that had to be specially ordered-then delayed due to Superstorm Sandy) we’ve been using space heaters. I know that I can”make do” but in light of all that the storm victims are enduring, my heart and prayers truly go out to them.
Being "Bold, Brilliant and Brief"…
For all my writing friends, if you didn’t know, November 15 is the submission deadline for Writer’s Digest Short Short Story Competition. I submitted a couple of stories two years ago and then the competition (or any competition for that matter) just fell off my radar. This year would have been the same if not for the handy little reminder that appeared in my mailbox two weeks ago. So I have two stories, I think both rather clever but we shall see. Happy Writing!
